TTS Light Festival

More than 350 members have joined the celebration and enjoyed the day.  Sincere thanks to all the volunteers and participants.

TTS donates more than £1000 worth of food to the local food bank during the festive season 2020 and continues to support the neighborhoods. TTS thanks all our family and friends for their generous gesture during these difficult pandemic times.

Our volunteers purchased food for £804.12 out of £846 money received. Remaining balance £41.88. Apologies, we received £40 donation at the very last minute and our volunteers could not purchase food for £40 and donate at the end. However, we will make sure this money is spent towards the charity in the next TTS initiative. On behalf of TTS, we thank you wholeheartedly and may the almighty god bring you & family peace, good health and prosperity.

We thank our volunteers and appreciate their efforts.

அன்பு தாய்த்தமிழ் குடும்ப நண்பர்களுக்கு வணக்கம்,
கோடை விடுமுறையை நல்ல குதூகலத்துடன் கொண்டாடி மகிழ்திருப்பீர்கள் என்று நம்புகிறோம். கீழடியில் கண்ட பொக்கிஷங்கள் நம் முன்னோர்கள் தரணியில் தழைத்து வாழ்ந்த குடியாக மீண்டும் உலகிற்கு பறைசாற்றி இருக்கிறது. இது நம் தமிழுக்கு & தமிழினத்திற்க்கு கிடைத்த மிக பெரிய பெருமை. நாம் அனைவரும் இவற்றை எண்ணி இரட்டிப்பு மகிழ்ச்சி அடையவேண்டும் !. பெருமிதமே !!

எதிரே வரும் குளிர்காலத்தை எண்ணி ஆனந்தப்படுபவர்களை விட அச்சப்படும் நண்பர்களே அதிகம்(!). இரவு, பகல் சரிபாதி என்ற பூமியிலிருந்து வந்த நாம் அனைவரும், முதலில் இந்த நாட்டின் கால வெட்பநிலையை பார்த்து திகைத்திருப்போம். எனினும், இந்த குளிர்காலம் வரும்போதுதான் நிறைய பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடக்கும். ஓர் இனம் புரியாத இறுக்கத்தில் இருந்து நம்மை விடுவிக்க ஒரு வடிகாலாய் அந்த நிகழ்ச்சிகள் அமையும். அதன் நீட்சியாகத்தான், தாய்த்தமிழ் சங்கம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் ஒரு விழாவை கொண்டாடுவோம். இதில் சாதி மத பாகுபாடின்றி அனைவரும் ஒன்று கூடி, ஆனந்தம் பாடி மகிழ்வோம்.

Cooking competition 23rd March 2019

TTS is pleased to be hosting the Home Chefs - Spice it up cooking competition in March. Intended to raise awareness of the modern day need for cooking skills equally amongst men, women and young people, some of the highlights of the 4 allocated days will be as follows

b, Discussions demonstrations and themes will collectively shine a torch on diabetics, the magic of vegetarian diet/vegetables and obesity.

Collage of Cultures 2019

Collage of Cultures was intended to engage the wider community to produce a textile relief that reflected the integrated working between communities while showcasing the Tamil culture. The two textile wall-hangings, each measuring 200m x 50m, depict the cultural diversity of Indian and pan-European communities and their integration into the local diversity.

With funding received from Awards For All, ThaaiTamil Sangam commissioned community artist Aishwarya Magesh, under whose guidance, members of the community from various cultural backgrounds sewed this colourful intricate handiwork, thereby demonstrating their ingenuity, their resourcefulness, and their ability to build bridges with others through art.

Kolam competition L 'Spa and Kenilworth 2019

Thaai Tamizh Sangam (TTS), spreads awareness of the Tamil culture among the wider community in Warwickshire by providing opportunities to dissipate any existing tensions by integrating and have conversations with the members of the Tamil community.

As part of the Tamil Fest project, which aims to get people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds to take part in a range of cultural activities. On Saturday, 19th January 2019, all members of the Leamington Spa community participated to draw free hand geometric designs with rice flour called Kolams. This ancient practice has been practiced for generations. Even today, kolams decorate the front porch of every Tamil home. The competition provided a window to this beautiful art form

We trust you had a wonderful summer break and settling in into routines. We wish all our children a very successful academic year ahead! Whilst all of us are running busy schedules, it is heartening to see our family and friends continue to network and help each other.

Yes, it is time to plan our next celebration i.e Light Festival 2018. TTS organizing team is planning to celebrate "Light Festival" on 3rd November 2018 from 11 am to 6 pm at Willen Hall, Coventry, CV3 3BB. As usual we have planned a variety of programs during the celebration to make sure our TTS families and friends enjoy the day out with traditional touch of nativity.

Kolam Competition Guidelines 2018

1. A team must have a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 3.
2 Entry is free.
3 Teams must be ready to start at 9am. Doors will open at 8:30am for preparation.
4 Duration of the kolam competition is 3 hours – between 9am and 12pm.
5 Maximum area provided for each team will be 4ft X 4ft.
6 The kolam must be dotted (pulli). Designs will not be accepted.
7 White, blue, red, green and yellow kola podi will be provided.

8 Judges will be making a decision based on the following 3 criteria:
Aesthetics (50%): including symmetry of layout.
Craftsmanship (25%): including complexity and expertise.
Presentation (25%): including colour combination and attractiveness.

9 The winning team will be awarded a trophy.

TTS family Sports day 7th July 2018

Hope you are enjoying the sunshine

As communicated, we are pleased to invite you and your family to participate in TTS "Sport and Wellbeing Day" on 7th July 2018 at Harris Sport Center, Rugby, CV22 6BB from 11:30 am to 6:00pm.

We attach the invitation and an indicative agenda/sports schedule for your kind reference. Suresh Periyasamy has kindly volunteered to coordinate all the pre-qualification events therefore please get in touch with him for any sports that you are interested to take part.

Entry fee is £2 per person aged 5 and above. Under 5 yrs old go free. In order to plan some logistics and safety measures, we would encourage you to confirm your participation on or before 30th June 2018.

TTS team will arrange high tea at the end of the ceremony but please bring your own packed lunch with you to enjoy the games and environment.

Dress code : Sports wear as appropriate.

The first meeting with Mark Pawsey went very well and We have provided and explained the background on TTS families who live locally and emphasized the importance of the “Super Visa Category” debate in Parliament on 9th July and requested his support. Also we have requested his guidance on the potential community center for TTS families and Mark has agreed to look at with the local council.

It has been more than a year since TTS was conceived and we must be proud of ourselves to bring this to level where each one of us made friends and long lasting relationship. Tamil class inauguration 27th Feb 2016

Dear All,
With immense pleasure TTS invites you and family to the inaugural function of Tamil Language and Cultural Values learning at Benn Partnership Center, Rugby, CV21 3HR, on 27th Feb 2016 between 4 pm - 6 pm.

TTS is continuing to explore to start similar classes in other parts of the Warwickshire. We will keep you posted on the progress.

We have received £1519 from our TTS members and ensured to send through some trust worthy channel so it reaches the needy. Therefore, TTS ensured to transfer the money through World Tamil Org (WTO) based in London to the right volunteering organization in Tamilnadu. The converted £ to INR monies have been sent to the following contacts to help the victims.

Diwali and Christmas Celebrations
