I moved to UK in 2010 with my family to study MBA at the Cranfield School of Management. Since then I have worked in various technology leadership and digital transformation roles for large global business such as Saint-Gobain, Holland & Barrett and recently as an independent consultant.

As an active member of my school’s Tamil Language society back in Singapore, I understood the value of identity and belonging when you are in a foreign culture. The universal values of love, warmness towards others and discipline championed by Tamil culture and especially Thirukural has had a strong influence on my outlook.

As my kids started growing up, I recognised the need for them to belong to a community as part of their overall growth. Hence my family and I were delighted when we discovered ThaaiTamil Sangam (TTS) in 2015. The warmth and open-hearted nature of TTS members have led me to be part of TTS activities and advocates since then.

The future belongs to our children. In a foreign land they need strong identity and roots in order to overcome some of the unique challenges they will face. While our children are academically bright, they will need other social skills such as confidence, oratory, networking, finance and much more in order to thrive and reach their full potential without limitation by the UK environment. I am passionate about this matter and has moved the “Children Empowered” programme of activities along with numerous supporters within TTS.

மேலாண்மை படிப்பதற்காக நான் எனது குடும்பத்துடன் 2010 இல் இங்கிலாந்திற்கு வந்தேன். அப்போதிருந்து நான் பல்வேறு தொழில்நுட்ப தலைமை பொறுப்பேற்று ஒரு சுயாதீன ஆலோசகராகவும் பணியாற்றினேன் .

சிங்கப்பூரில் வளர்ந்த போது, பள்ளியின் தமிழ் மொழி வளர்ப்பு உறுப்பினராக இருந்த நான், நம் அடையாளத்தின் மதிப்பைப் நன்கு புரிந்து கொண்டேன். அன்பு, கருணை குறிப்பாக ஒழுக்கத்தை கற்று உணர தமிழ் கலாச்சாரம் மிகவும் தேவை என்பதை அறிவேன். குழந்தைகள் வளரத் தொடங்கியதும், அவர்களின் ஒட்டுமொத்த வளர்ச்சியின் ஒரு பகுதியாக, அவர்கள் ஒரு சமூகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை என்னால் உணர முடிந்தது. 2015 ஆம் ஆண்டில் தாய்த்தமிழ் என்ற ஒரு அமைப்பை கண்டு அறிந்தபோது நானும் என் குடும்பத்தினரும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தோம். தாய்த்தமிழ் உறுப்பினர்களின் அரவணைப்பு மற்றும் திறந்த மனது எங்களை வெகுவாக கவர்ந்தது.

எதிர்காலம் நம் குழந்தைகளுக்கு சொந்தமானது. ஒரு வெளிநாட்டு தேசத்தில் அவர்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சில தனிப்பட்ட சவால்களை சமாளிக்க அவர்களுக்கு வலுவான அடையாளமும்தனித்துவம் தேவை. நம் குழந்தைகள் கல்வி ரீதியாகவெற்றி அடையும்போது, இதர திறன்கள் செழித்து வளர அவர்களுக்கு நம்பிக்கை, சொற்பொழிவு, நிதி மற்றும் பல சமூக திறன்கள் தேவைப்படும். எனவே என்னால் முடிந்த அளவுக்கு குழந்தைகளை ஊக்குவிக்கும் விதமாக ஒரு சில நிகழ்ச்சிகளை முன்னெடுக்க தாய்த்தமிழ் சங்கத்தோடு இணைந்து செய்லபடுவதில் எனக்கு பெருமிதம்.
